Oregon shop launches consumer education effort

June 12, 2012

June 12, 2012—Leif’s Auto Collision Centers recently launched a new venture called “Ask Leif” that allows consumers to ask any vehicle-related question, including technical and insurance inquiries, to help settle claim disputes with insurers.

Leif’s, an 11-shop collision repair operation based in Tigard, Ore., said the goal of the initiative is to provide expert assistance and advocacy for consumers by providing them with pertinent information regarding questions about automotive repairs. “Ask Leif” connects consumers with insurance company liaisons and the Oregon Insurance Commissioner to help settle disputed claims in a fair and equitable manner.

“Insurance companies go to any length necessary to keep their multi-billion [dollar] business rolling along, including forcing auto body shops to cut corners and undermine their customers by offering them less than they’re owed. While this is going on, insurance commissioners across the country are failing consumers as they stand idly by while top tier companies continue to pocket record profits,” Leif’s said. “At Leif’s, we’ve seen a growing trend of customers seeking information—and answers—to questions involving shoddy repairs, cutting corners, totaling of cars and more.”

“With thousands of auto claims in Oregon settled in bad faith, we recognize a market for unbiased, factual information and help for consumers dealing with professionals from the insurance industry,” Leif’s added. “For far too long customers are without redress or solutions to problems posed by their insurance company. Leif’s is here to expose insurers’ tactics and give you answers both big and small. Whether this is through totaling a consumer’s vehicle, diminished value or other cost-cutting measures, Leif can—and will—shed light on these corrupt practices.”

Consumers can submit questions to “Ask Leif” either through the company’s Facebook page, facebook.com/leifsautocenters, or a newly created website, askleif.com. Responses to questions are offered within 48 hours.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a customer at Leif’s Auto Collision Centers or not, we will help anyone seeking information,” Leif’s said.
