Wells Manufacturing, L.P. received two awards in customer service and support during the AutoZone Vendor Summit in Memphis, Tenn., last month.

Wells was presented with the AutoZone “WITTDTJR” (What it Takes to Do the Job Right) Award in recognition of being the company’s first supplier to provide triple-view product images on the AutoZone Z-Net electronic catalog and business management system, as well as for overall excellence in cataloging.

“Wells is recognized in the industry for having cutting-edge cataloging that includes over 2.8 million data records, over 30,000 part numbers, 47,000 OE numbers and more than 650 pages of competitive cross referencing – a daunting task that they have perfected,” says Bill Edwards, director of merchandising and customer satisfaction for AutoZone.

In addition, Wells received the AutoZone “Extra Miler” Award in recognition of customer service provided by Wells Vice President of Distribution Rob Benson during a weather emergency in December 2007.

A severe winter storm on December 11 knocked out power city-wide and virtually shut down Centerville, Iowa, the location of Wells’ aftermarket distribution complex. When he learned that Federal Express was suspending shipping operations due to the storm, Benson loaded a truck with 422 AutoZone overnight product shipments and drove two hours over treacherous roads to reach the nearest FedEx depot so the product would be delivered to the customer on time.

“We are extremely proud of Rob Benson and the entire Wells team, who continue to set the standard for customer service and support,” says Wells President David Peace. “Extraordinary service and superior customer satisfaction are the goals of every Wells employee, every day. It is very gratifying to be recognized by AutoZone for achieving this benchmark.”
