Hub City Auto Paints & Supplies, an AkzoNobel distributor in Canada, has transferred ownership from founder Harold Keith to Douglas E. Steeves. The sale of the company was effective on Oct. 1.
Hub City Auto Paints & Supplies serves New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Cumberland County, Nova Scotia with three stores located in Moncton, New Brunswick; Fredericton, New Brunswick; and Amherst, Nova Scotia. Keith began Hub City Oxygen in 1969, and expanded his business to include auto refinishes in 1984. After selling Hub City Oxygen in 1995, the company name was changed to Hub City Auto Paints & Supplies, LTD. The distributor offers the AkzoNobel product line, including Sikkens, Lesonal, Utech, and Wanda. Keith will take on an advisory management role during a transition period.

Steeves brings more than thirty years of experience in the automotive industry to this venture, including fourteen years as owner of a successful GM franchise in Nova Scotia. He was the first automotive dealer in Nova Scotia to embrace the Sikkens waterborne paint system in the dealership’s body shop. In Oct. 2008, Steeves sold the dealership to a local GMC dealer. Active in the industry throughout his career, Steeves has served as Director of the General Motors Dealer Marketing Board of Atlantic Canada and Vice President of the Nova Scotia Automobile Dealers Associations, and he is a member of Canadian Automobile Dealers Association.
