WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will release a one-hour Webcast on the 2008 Auto Body Rule and Collision Repair Campaign on July 28, 2008, at 1 p.m., EDT, that will feature Holly Wilson, the leader of the Community Air Program for the EPA, in the Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards, Outreach and Information Division.
Targeted at state and local agencies that work directly with paint stripping and miscellaneous surface coating operations, the Webcast focuses on environmental concerns related to collision repair and auto body shops.
The Collision Repair Campaign is a nationwide campaign that aims to decrease harmful human and environmental exposure to air toxics known as hazardous air pollutants, volatile organic compounds and particulate matter emissions. By training auto body shops, the EPA seeks to reduce the release of air toxics. Further, the campaign will provide information about the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants.
The EPA has produced a DVD that lists and describes the best techniques for auto body shops to become more environmentally safe. The DVD will be available through the EPA’s Web site.
