CENTREVILLE, Va. – Carfax announced that Toyota has joined the Carfax Service Link program, and now service and maintenance information will be reported to Carfax for vehicles serviced by Toyota dealers participating in Carfax Service Link. The free program creates a virtual directory of trusted dealerships that new owners can bring their car back to for maintenance once the vehicle changes hands.

“Carfax Service Link provides our dealers with another opportunity to increase transparency of the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle (TCUV) sales process,” says Dealer Standards and Process Manager for Toyota Certified Used Vehicles Marlo Dene. “Consumers will now be able to see a more complete service history of the vehicle and will likely place a greater value on such a vehicle. This new tool from Carfax supports the benefit of “peace of mind” that comes with every purchase of a TCUV and should help us sell more vehicles and satisfy more customers in 2008.”

Toyota strongly encourages its dealers to participate in the Carfax Service Link program. Carfax Service Link is a free enhancement that puts any participating dealership’s name on the Carfax Report of each vehicle they service. Dealership contact information and a Web site link appears alongside each service record on Carfax Reports to help dealers retain these vehicles in their service cycle. More than 5,400 dealerships report their service information to Carfax through the Carfax Service Link program.

“In this economy, it’s more important than ever for us to maximize our used car profitability,” says David Defoe, Internet Sales Manager at Labadie Toyota in Bay City, Mich.“Having maintenance histories available in Carfax Vehicle History Reports helps used cars retain their value and we can expect a premium price at retail.Just as importantly, we’re increasing revenue from our service bays by keeping these vehicles in our service cycle.New customers are bringing their cars back to our dealership for service as a direct result of the free advertising we get from the Carfax Service Link program.”

Carfax Service Link is a free program that’s open to any dealership. Toyota dealers interested in participating can call (888) 485-8063; all other interested dealers can call (800) 274-2277. For more information about Carfax Service Link, visit www.carfaxonline.com.
