Nov. 14, 2012—Volkswagen AG has granted technical approval for global use of AkzoNobel’s Lesonal refinish brand on the auto manufacturer’s vehicles.
AkzoNobel said the approval was announced following extensive and intensive testing procedures against Volkswagen’s repair specifications. The tests demonstrated that the Lesonal brand complies with both U.S. and European standards.
AkzoNobel said Volkswagen’s approval of the Lesonal brand provides repairers worldwide with additional choices to refinish the company’s vehicles.
“Our ability to deliver the high quality products that meet [Volkswagen’s] discerning standards is of course testimony to the quality of our automotive refinish products,” said Stefan Wieditz, director of automotive technology for AkzoNobel.
Volkswagen also renewed its approval of AkzoNobel’s Sikkens brand, which the company has endorsed since 1994.
“We’re very pleased to gain approval for Lesonal and re-affirm Volkswagen’s approval of our Sikkens brand,” said Kerstin Stranimaier, director of marketing for AkzoNobel Automotive & Aerospace Coatings. “Volkswagen AG is one of the most highly respected automotive manufacturers in the world, and our relationship with Volkswagen is extremely important.”
