Vehicle Sensors and Actuators: Session Code AE319, Room D0-05

DENSO topic: Development of High Accuracy Air-Fuel Ratio Sensor with Catalyst Layer, 10:40 a.m.

To meet increasingly more strict emission regulations, DENSO has developed an air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor using a newly developed catalyst material that can withstand the severe environment surrounding the A/F sensor. This sensor enables faster operating performance after engine start-up and improved accuracy, which contributes to the reduction of hydrocarbon and NOX emissions.

Intelligent Vehicle Initiative (IVI) Technology Advanced Controls and Navigation Systems

Session Code: AE309, Room DO-06A

DENSO topic: Drowsiness Detection Using Facial Expression Features, 10:40 a.m.

The company has developed a method to detect driver drowsiness facial expressions, including information related to the eyes. The facial expression index has the highest linear correlation with the brain wave, which is commonly used to detect driver drowsiness. It was developed with a system using a camera, an image processing algorithm and a drowsiness detection algorithm. To measure a driver’s drowsiness, DENSO developed a method that detects 3-dimensional coordinates of 68 points on the driver’s face from the driver’s video-captured facial image.

Wednesday, April 14, 2010, 1 p.m.
Energy Efficiency of Thermal Systems: Session Code HX103, Room O2-43

DENSO topic: Compact High-Efficiency Blower Fan for HVAC, 3:20 p.m.

DENSO is always looking to make its products smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient. The company will present how it was able to reduce its blower fan volume by 35 percent, decrease power consumption by 15 percent and reduce the specific noise level compared to the conventional blower fan.
