In preparation for Fall Car Care Month in October 2009, the Car Care Council has put together some recommended guidelines on how to host a vehicle check-up event.

• Visit www.carcareindustry.com, the industry’s Car Care Month Tool Kit, for ideas on getting involved and promoting Fall Car Care Month 2009 in your shop.

• Fall is a good time to remind your customers about the importance of regular vehicle maintenance due to the upcoming fall/winter driving season. Visit our press release section to find seasonal tips and advice.

• Market your event. By now, you have probably already determined when/where you will be having your event, so now is a good time to start promoting it! Display signage in your shop, or place an ad in your local paper. Good exposure and word of mouth can go a long way in securing new customers, as well as generating interest from your current ones.

• Utilize the Car Care Council. We can provide your shop with inspection forms and a free Event Listing on our Web site, as well as assist you in purchasing educational items to distribute to your customers: Car Care Guides, Point-of-Sale Kit and/or “Be Car Care Aware” brochures.

The Car Care Council is the source of information for the “Be Car Care Aware” consumer education campaign promoting the benefits of regular vehicle care, maintenance and repair to consumers. For more information, visit www.carcare.org.
