WASHINGTON, D.C. — The final regulation package for the OBD-II and emission warranty regulations were made available Aug. 13. The Final Statement of Reasons and the summary of amendments to the regulation were filed with the Office of Administrative Law Aug. 10. The specific sections including 1968.2, 1968.5, 2035, 2037, and 2038, title 13, California Code of Regulations have not been officially approved by the Office of Administrative Law, which has until Sept. 24 to make a final ruling.

A public hearing was held regarding OBD-II and emission warranty regulations Sept. 28, 2006. Following the hearing, the California Air Resources Board approved modified versions of amendments that would update the OBD-II requirements and the emission warranty regulations for light-duty and medium-duty vehicles and engines. A staff report was released in August of 2006 detailing specific changes suggested by the board, which also incorporated public comments on the measure. Further comment periods occurred beginning May 22 and July 23, 2007. This final order incorporates those 15-day notice periods.
