A Maaco location in Euless, Texas transformed a van to resemble Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine for a local teen in need, according to a press release.
Weston Groff is a 17-year-old living in the Euless community. He has been battling an inherited nerve disorder called Friedreich's ataxia his entire life, which causes effects similar to ALS or muscular dystrophy.
Groff has always dreamed of taking a trip to see the Grand Canyon, and his family and friends have been helping to raise money to make the trip a reality. Maaco Euless Owner Steven Cidlik was eager to help in any way he could, so his shop helped by performing a new paint job on his van.
It was no ordinary paint job, however–it was redone as a replica of the Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo, complete with Scooby and the gang peeking out through the back window.
“This project was special because it filled my team and I with so much pride,” Cidlik said. “Seeing the way the group jumped right in to tackle this project was incredible. I look forward to continuing our efforts in giving back to our deserving community!”
