Nov. 5, 2012—BASF recently donated waterborne paint and related refinishing equipment to Washburn Institute of Technology to help the school’s collision repair program convert to waterborne technology.
The donation was made through the Collision Repair Education Foundation. The Education Foundation said BASF’s contribution will enable the Topeka, Kan.-based school to keep pace with the collision industry by offering training in the latest repair technology.
“We recognize the crucial role educational institutions play in the collision repair industry. Automotive technology is changing at an ever-increasing rate. Having access to the latest, most relevant tools and information is essential for a technician to succeed,” said Joseph Skurka, OEM and industry relations manager for BASF. “We’re proud to support organizations that ultimately help our customers and the collision repair industry thrive.”
BASF also donated $5,000 to the Education Foundation’s general campaign fund, which will be used for student scholarships, school grants and the annual Ultimate Collision Education Makeover $50,000 school grant.
“I commend BASF on their annual monetary contribution and the waterborne equipment upgrade for Washburn Institute of Technology. The waterborne equipment provided to the school will help keep the collision students current with industry repair methods and an upgrade that many collision school programs budgets across the country don’t allow,” said Brandon Eckenrode, director of development for the Education Foundation. “Through BASF’s generosity, this school’s collision program is able to better train the future professionals of the industry.”
