Google Exec: Self-Driving Vehicles Inevitable

April 22, 2015—A Google executive said on Wednesday that he sees self-driving cars as inevitable, echoing an earlier sentiment from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, according to a report from Automotive News.

Ray Kurzweil, director of engineering at Google, opened the SAE World Congress by explaining how and why he sees this technology impacting the automotive industry over the next 30 years.

Automotive News reported that Kurzweil said self-driving vehicles will not only help drastically reduce the number of people injured and killed in accidents, they could also change the ownership model for vehicles.
