Washbish will join the Alliance today as as second in command to Alliance President and CEO Richard H. Morgan. The new position of executive vice president will lead strategic initiatives that will strengthen the Alliance’s position in the automotive aftermarket, according to the Alliance. Responsibilities will also include interaction with Alliance members and vendors as well as Alliance Parts Warehouse, the Alliance’s co-man Little Rock, Ark., location.

“I’ve been involved in the aftermarket for so many years and have grown to know so many of the people I will be working with that it’s almost like coming home since I started my career in my family’s warehouse,” says Washbish. “This next chapter in my career is so appealing to me since few people have the opportunity to mold their job from scratch and create something unique.”

Washbish has been in the aftermarket for more than 30 years, more than half of them as a senior executive. He previously held positions with Affinia. According to information from the Alliance, his talents are geared towards the industry, as he has worked in automotive manufacturing and with automotive distributors that relied on his strengths to help make them more efficient and profitable.

“Appointing John to this new position is an important step for the Alliance as we continue to grow and react to our ever changing industry,” says Morgan, “We all welcome John with enthusiasm and look forward to a smooth transition as this new position and his responsibilities settle and our members get to know him and his potential.”

Washbish and his wife, Carol, will be relocating to San Antonio, Texas, in the near future. The Alliance, based in San Antonio, is headquarters for one of the largest aftermarket groups in North America. Its membership consists of privately-held large and medium-sized warehouse distributors as well as parts stores and service centers. Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper is part of the Alliance.
