Treadroc Tire Services and Belle Tire have formed a retreading joint venture in Western and Northern Michigan called Belleroc Tire Services.
“Initially driven by the financial challenges that the industry faces, the creation of Belleroc will allow these great companies to synergize and shore up their futures,” according to a statement by company executives.
“The partnership will allow Belleroc to expand their product offerings and continue to provide the finest Bandag retread products.”
They go on to describe a continuing focus “on quality products, accurate fleet analysis/management and incomparable quality retreading and service,” noting that “new levels of service will be defined and benchmarked with the partnership” covering truck, earthmover and industrial tires.
Belle was founded in 1922 by Sam Waze with a single location in Detroit named after his wife. Expansions and acquisitions followed, with the Barnes Family purchasing the business in the early 1980s. Currently Don Barnes Jr. is president and his brother Bob is the CEO. A third generation is involved as well, with Don Barnes III serving as operations and marketing manager. The chain has more than 80 locations in Michigan and Ohio with 1,200-plus workers.
Dating back to 1961, Tredroc has sites in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin representing a combination of Antioch Tire, Inc.; CBA Tire; Chicago Bandag; Michigan’s Commercial Tire Service; EBS and Steel City Tire.
