Kumho Tires has been named the official tire of the new Traxxas Off Road Championship (TORC) Series, the world’s premier short course off-road racing series. Kumho will supply tires to TORC founder/driver Ricky Johnson, drivers Ross Hoek, Mike Oberg and Chad Hord in the PRO 2 class; Steve Barlow and Scott Douglas in the Pro 4 class; and Chad Hord in the Pro Lite class.
“We’re looking forward to continuing our participation in short course off-road racing,” says Rudy Consolacion, Kumho Tires, U.S. motorsports manager. “This will be our ninth year of competition, and we’ll once again run with some of the best in the business. Scott and Chad have both won short course off-road championships and prove the performance, toughness and durability of our light truck tires every time they take the green flag.”
Sponsorship of TORC will enable Kumho to test aggressive off-road tire compounds, tread designs and sidewall constructions under fast, harsh conditions demanded by the world’s best drivers. Past research and development that supported championship drivers were integrated into Kumho’s new All-Terrain tire, the Road Venture SAT.
As official tire of TORC, Kumho will be racing on such classic tracks as Crandon and Bark River. The TORC series will include nine race weekends, which kicked off May 15 at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.
