The Venture™ thermoplastic tonneau cover from Penda Corporation will be marketed via the World Wide Web on selected e-retailer sites.

The Venture, which represents a highly differentiated “second generation” of thermoplastic tonneau cover technology, offers significant advantages over other plastic “hard” covers. While other plastic tonneau covers are manufactured from ABS, a thermoplastic material commonly used in the packaging industry, the Venture features a much stronger and more versatile composite technology favored in the aerospace industry, according to the company.

“The Venture’s high-tech composite construction, consisting of a honeycomb core and two fiberglass layers, provides unmatched strength and durability for today’s trucks,” says Ulf Buergel, president and CEO of Penda Corporation. “To thermoform the Venture’s outer skin, we use the same proven engineered polymer blend that is used for many exterior car components. The result is best-in-class temperature performance and UV stability.”

Testing conducted by General Motors and Toyota have confirmed that the Venture withstands even the most extreme operating temperatures, while crash testing has shown that the cover is virtually indestructible. The tonneau cover’s innovative technology offers another important benefit: the ability to incorporate sophisticated styling into each Venture unit. Unlike low-end “first generation” plastic tonneau covers, the Venture features vehicle-specific exterior styling lines and a smooth, cargo-boosting interior finish.

“Consumers are looking for a tonneau cover that will enhance the appearance of their vehicles rather than dilute the look with the same simple flat cover for all makes and models,” Buergel adds. “Truck accessories are about customizing a truck, not making them all look alike.”

The composite technology used in the Venture also allows for a smooth inside surface that increases cargo-carrying capacity. By eliminating the unsightly reinforcing ribs required for other plastic covers, Penda was able to increase cargo space, ensuring that even the largest coolers and other items fit without a problem.

Venture tonneau covers marketed through leading e-retailers will come with the same personalized customer service and support that have become Penda’s hallmark.

“For a premium product like the Venture, customers expect the same service when buying on the Internet as they do when buying through a traditional store. This will be another point of differentiation we and our e-retailing partners will offer,” Buergel notes. Customers purchasing online will be able to instantly track delivery and contact Penda customer service representatives with any questions regarding their purchase. The Venture also will be backed by the same market-leading warranty offered through traditional store locations.
