First, make sure if alcoholic beverages are served at your holiday party, no one drinks and drives. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) offers safe party guides to help prevent this. Also, it might be a good idea to limit the amount of alcohol at the party to curb inappropriate behavior.
Harassment sometimes is an outcome of that inappropriate behavior, and keeping an eye on employees, while making sure everyone has a good time, is an important job for managers.
To help make the party a success, some suggestions are serving seasonal non-alcoholic drinks and making it a family event.
Other ways to make your party a success are to make it a general holiday party so no one feels obligated to celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah traditions at the party, host it at a location off-site and definitely be sure to thank your employees for their dedication during the past year.
