Wheel producer Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc. has received Nissan North America’s Quality Master and Zero Defects awards for the performance of its aluminum wheel plant in Chihuahua, Mexico.
The Quality Master Award is based on year-long evaluations of Nissan’s suppliers by the automaker’s engineering, manufacturing, product quality, production control and purchasing divisions. Only suppliers that have achieved a high level rating by each function can achieve this recognition.
Hayes Lemmerz was also named a 2008 Nissan Zero Defects Award winner. The Zero Defects Award is presented to suppliers that ship fewer than three defective parts per million in a year’s time.
“I congratulate our associates in Chihuahua who worked so hard to ensure our products exceed Nissan's expectations,” says Miguel Leon, manager of the wheel maker’s Chihuahua operations.
“These awards inspire our associates to continue delivering their best, resulting in the highest quality products for our customers,” he adds.
“"Our relationship with Nissan is highly valued, and we are honored to receive the recognition these awards represent,” reports Donald Hampton Jr., vice president of operations, Hayes Lemmerz’s North American unit.
“Our vision of being a premier automotive supplier and growing through satisfying our customers remains strong and we look forward to further strengthening our relationship as a valued business partner of Nissan,” he says.
The company has 22 facilities and more than 7,000 employees worldwide.
