The training by the state Department of Labor is part of a voluntary state program that offers assistance to companies in improving safety and compliance. Along with the fire safety training, H&V has improved safety and environmental compliance by switching to greener, less toxic paints, state of the art equipment, and enhanced employee training.
Founded in Troy, N.Y., in the early 1970s, H&V opened a third location in spring 2010 in Colonie and a fourth location in Saratoga in 2012. H&V said it was the first shop in New York to meet the standards to be recognized by VeriFacts as qualifying for VQ (Verified Quality) Medallion status.
