Terry's Tire Town has purchased Englewood Tire Wholesale (ETW), a provider of more associate dealer programs than any other tire distributor in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

The acquisition further advances the expansion of Terry’s into a “super regional leader” in wholesale tire distribution, according to the company.

With the addition of Englewood’s four East Coast distribution centers, Terry’s now stocks more than 800,000 tires in all sizes and brands housed in 11 state-of-the-art warehouses across the Eastern and Midwestern U.S.

The acquisition allows the company to provide consistent wholesale distribution services in 12 states, including the administration of American Car Care Centers (ACCC) and Eco Express programs.

“More than just an ordinary business deal, this is a marriage of like-mind cultures and executives who know each other and share a common commitment to customer service as a top priority,” says Will Tolerton, Terry’s CEO.

Established in 1946, ETW “grew and succeeded one customer at a time over decades,” he points out, describing a similar scenario with Terry’s history.

“Englewood has outstanding executive leadership and a premier sales team, and we are excited to work with our new colleagues,” says Tolerton.

Tolerton shares a long-time friendship with John Boyle, ETW’s principal; for 10 years the two have served together on the ACCC board of directors.

Boyle will become executive vice president of Terry’s, “bringing with him invaluable experience and market savvy.” Boyle will also join the company’s board of directors. Scott Williams, ETW’s second-in-command for more than 20 years, will become a regional vice president.

The firm gains distribution centers in Happauge, N.Y., Lyndhurst, N.J., East Hartford, Conn., West Deptford, N.J., and Middlesex, N.J.

Terry’s will also expand the reach and scope of its associate dealer programs in multiple brands, including Bridgestone/Firestone TireStarz, MAST Alliance, Continental Gold, Kumho FUEL and Yokohama Advantage, according to Tolerton.

The recent growth of Terry’s is the result of a strategic plan and partnership formed between Tolerton and Talisman Capital Partners in November of last year, he says. In February the company acquired tire wholesaler Summit Tire of New England with warehouses in Brockton, Mass., Nashua, N.H. and Westbrook, Maine.
