Competing on Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires, the LeDuc family – father Curt and sons Todd and Kyle – successfully took on the short course at the Nov. 14-15 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series in Primm, Nev.
During Saturday’s Unlimited 2 class race, Todd LeDuc extended his series consecutive win streak to three in a row by besting a field of 19 trucks on his size 35X12.50R17 Toyos. He returned Sunday to finish in second place, holding the top two spots on the Unlimited 2 podium for the weekend.
“Overall, we had a great weekend. On Sunday, I finished second by only a half a truck length, then my motor let loose just after the finish line,” recounts Todd LeDuc. “Other racers were asking me what I thought of my Toyo tires, and I said they are the best overall tire for short course racing today.”
During Saturday’s race, Kyle LeDuc finished second in the Unlimited 4 class with his four-wheel-drive race truck.
On Sunday, father Curt was the No. 1 qualifier, placing him on the pole for the start of the race with Kyle alongside in the No. 2 spot. Curt led the first two laps with Kyle then moving into the lead to take the win. Kyle also scored the fastest lap time of the weekend.
“I ran the exact same set of Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires both days,” says Kyle. “It was an awesome setup, working well on the blue groove, also where it was super loamy.”
During the 2009 season, Kyle finished second overall in the TORC series championship for the Pro 4WD class, while Todd finished third overall in Pro 2WD. Between TORC and the Lucas series, Team LeDuc has netted 12 short course victories on Toyo tires this year.
“We congratulate the LeDuc family for having another outstanding weekend in the Lucas Oil Series,” says Stan Chen, Toyo’s manager of events and motorsports. “Their dominance in Primm once again demonstrates the Toyo Open Country M/T-R is the tire of winners in off-road racing.”
Team Toyo off-road drivers such as the LeDuc’s, Ron Whitton and Robby Gordon are currently gearing up to take part in the 42nd running of the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Gordon leads the overall SCORE International points championship heading into the competition, only needing to finish the race to win the 2009 championship.
