If you sell and service motorcycle tires, be ready to throttle-up with a targeted promotional campaign as Harley-Davidson has set its second annual Women Riders Month for May of next year.
“Women Riders Month is designed to celebrate the millions of women who have already grabbed life by the handlebars as well as inspire more women to experience the freedom of the open road,” says Leslie Prevish, women’s outreach manager.
Biker-oriented businesses are encouraged to implement advertising programs aimed at attracting female motorcycle enthusiasts.
On May 22 and 23, Harley will be hosting women riders in its hometown of Milwaukee, Wis.
The festivities are open to fans favoring any make of motorcycle along with non-riders; women are invited to bring friends to join them.
A planned a series of activities includes demonstration rides at the Harley-Davidson Museum, new product displays and an opportunity to meet and greet Karen Davidson, great-granddaughter of one of the firm’s famed founders. (The iconic Harley-Davidson Motor Co. is the only remaining major American motorcycle manufacturer.)
On Saturday, an independent ride featuring several stops throughout Milwaukee and the surrounding region will give participants a taste of the Dairy State. An organized run later that day will park at an evening block party featuring live entertainment.
“We are very excited to build upon the successful Women Riders Month events we hosted this past year in New York City and Milwaukee,” says Prevish. “Of course, we’re especially thrilled about the opportunity to welcome female riders from across the country to our hometown.”
A full schedule will be posted in early 2010 at www.harley-davidson.com/womenriders.
