Michelin’s display of ecologically efficient big-rig rubber is getting a look-see from more than 40,000 over-the-road warriors gathered in Dallas for the Aug. 20-22 Great American Trucking Show. Known as GATS, the annual event is among Trade Show Week magazine’s “Fastest 50” top-growing conventions in the U.S. and Canada.

“There are nearly 400 exhibitors representing truck, trailer, engine, component and parts manufactures, as well as services catering to the heavy and medium duty truck industry,” reports Alan K. Sims, GATS’ vice president and executive director.

Participants include the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau, Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions and Love’s Tire Care.

Michelin’s booth is highlighting the company’s line of truck tires approved by the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay program.

Of the 29 tires from six manufacturers on the SmartWay ledger, Michelin’s lineup accounts for more than 30 percent of the list with 10 offerings – more than any other tire maker, according to Marc Laferriere, vice president of marketing for Michelin Americas Truck Tires.

“Many truckers may not be aware that they can buy wear-and-traction tires and not give up fuel efficiency benefits,” Laferriere points out.

“For some time, Michelin has helped customers save money on fuel with green tire technology,” he says, citing how the company can create a “green-green situation” for fleet owners and drivers: “Now that same technology will be instrumental in helping these companies meet upcoming regulations.”

The company’s SmartWay-verified offerings are:

Steer Tires
XZA3 (and the XZA3 Antisplash)

Drive Tires
X One XDA
X One XDN2
XDA Energy
XDA3

Trailer Tires
X ONE XTA
X ONE XTE
XTA Energy
XT1
