When Keith Steele recently took the checkered flag in the Limited 2WD/Limited 4X4 class during the latest round of the Traxxas TORC Series at Bark River International Raceway, it marked the 100th off-road racing win for Kumho Tires’ sponsored drivers since the inception of the company’s motorsports program in 1992.

From the beginning, Kumho’s goal has been to demonstrate its “technical capabilities, advanced manufacturing processes, as well as showing the consumer that to be a leader in the industry you must prove your products in the most demanding conditions,” says motorsports manager Rudy Consolacion. “Motorsports offers the forum to do that on a daily basis, and it has paid off for the company that is relatively new to the United States market,” he points out.

“Every win proves our product in the marketplace, however 100 wins really shows the hard work and dedication our company has to motorsports, and commitment to improving our products over the long term,” Consolacion says.

“There is so much that goes on behind the scenes the public doesn’t see,” he continues. “When we hit a milestone like this, it’s a proud moment for our company and the individuals that make it happen. It gives us a chance to recognize those people for all the long hours and sacrifice that goes into a professional motorsports program.”

The company participates in racing around the world with a dedicated staff of engineers from its South Korean research and development center. The U.S. motorsports department is headquartered at the Kumho America Technical Center in Akron, Ohio.
