Running on Toyo Proxes R888 street-legal competition tires, Ross Miller claimed a class win in the July 25-26 Redline Time Attack at the Nashville Speedway while also setting a new lap record on the track’s road course.
Miller, the defending 2008 Time Attack Modified FWD champion, is seeking a second consecutive title this year in his PTUNING 2005 Scion tC.
He is more than pleased with the performance of his tires.
“My Proxes R888 tires worked beautifully, as always,” says Miller. “This is something I have known to expect from Toyo,” he adds. “They offer consistency and speed – which is the combination needed to win in these events.”
“We congratulate Ross Miller and PTUNING for another exciting win with their well-prepared Scion,” says Stan Chen, Toyo’s manager of events and motorsports. “Our Proxes R888 and R1R tires continue to be the tire of choice for racers seeking a win in road racing and autocross.”
Drivers competing on R1R extreme performance tires scored both wins and podium appearances in the Street Touring classes at the July 25-26 SCCA ProSolo event in Toledo, Ohio.
Team Toyo’s Tim Smith captured a third place finish in his 1989 Honda Civic Si. Smith has won multiple races this year, setting him up to compete in the September ProSolo Finale and the 2009 Solo National Championship; both events will be held in Lincoln, Neb.
Other racers equipped with the R1Rs also notched fine runs in Toledo, including first and second place STS finishes in with Honda CRXs, second in STX with an Eagle Talon, and a win in Ladies Class 1 with a Honda Civic Si.
Chen says the company’s tires are “ideal for road racing, track days and high performance driving schools.” The 100 UTQG Proxes R888 is the Official Tire of SPEED World Challenge. He points out that in addition to winning in autocross (solo) competition, the 140 UTQG Proxes R1R is a back-to-back Formula DRIFT champion and winner and new record holder of the Time Attack 2WD division at the 2009 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
