Toyo’s tires rocked and rolled the legendary Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Cypress, Calif. during rounds 5 and 6 of the June 20-21 TORC (The Off-Road Championship) Series by sweeping the Pro 4X4 Truck class podium on both days.

Rick Huseman, driver of the No. 36 Monster Energy/Traxxas/Toyota/Toyo Tires Tundra, was the back-to-back winner. Curt LeDuc and his son Kyle drove their Rockstar/Makita/Ford Trucks/Toyo Tires F-150 trucks to back-to-back second and third place finishes. All the competitors were running on 35X12.50R17 Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires.

Huseman is having a dominant 2009 season in Pro 4X4, winning five out of the six races in TORC’s inaugural season and firmly leading the class championship. In addition, he has won five Oakley Bomb Run Awards for being the top qualifier in his class.

“Unlike previous races at Crandon where the surface would become packed, there was a lot of loose dirt this weekend…but our Toyo tires still worked great,” says Huseman. “At the end of the race, there was still so much tread left, it looked like you could run them again.”

At the same time, Curt LeDuc had good reason to celebrate Father’s Day with podium finishes for him and both of his sons. In addition to Curt and Kyle’s Pro 4 X4 podiums, Todd LeDuc scored back-to-back second place finishes in the Pro 2WD Truck class with his No. 3 Rockstar/Makita/Ford Trucks/Toyo Tires F-150. Both LeDuc brothers are No. 2 in championship points for their respective classes.

Team Toyo drivers were not only winning in the dirt, but on the pavement as well during June 20-21 weekend racing events. Tim Smith, driver of the No. 25 RPG/Toyo Tires 1989 Honda Civic Si, defeated a field of 13 competitors in the ST (Street Touring) class during Round 5 of the SCCA Pro Solo series at FedEx Field in Washington, DC. Competing on Proxes R1R extreme performance tires, not only did Smith win his class, but his co-driver, Bill Bounds, finished in the runner-up spot. Proxes R1R-shod cars also scored first and second place finishes in the STS class.

“We congratulate all of our Team Toyo drivers for their outstanding finishes this past weekend whether in the dirt or on the pavement,” says Stan Chen, the company’s manager of events and motorsports.
