Construction has been completed on Continental Tire’s new Indian Land headquarters as the company shifts its North American base of operations from Charlotte, N.C., to South Carolina’s Lancaster County.
Located on MacMillan Park Drive, the $11 million facility features individual offices, clusters of work stations and several conference rooms along with a call center. The 75,000-square-foot building employs 375 people.
A recent gala grand opening ceremony was attended by distinguished community leaders, customers and employees.
“Continental Tire has built a solid reputation by providing outstanding products throughout our 138-year history, and this move to South Carolina is just the next step in our ongoing effort to contribute to the North and South American markets,” says Matthias Schoenberg, CEO of Continental Tire North America.
Forsite Development and Hendrick Construction prepared the property and constructed the building in just over a year’s time. A local workforce was hired to landscape and set up the new headquarters.
“We were able to fast-track this project by building the shell of the facility while the interior was still being designed,” notes Roger Hendrick, Hendrick’s president. Founded in 2002, the contractor was named one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s fastest growing businesses in America in 2008.
