July 31, 2012—A recent telephone survey conducted by the Nebraska Auto Body Association (NABA) revealed the top three industry concerns among the organization’s member shops.
The NABA said all three of the top concerns shared by its members revolve around shop-insurance relations.
More than 42 percent of survey respondents ranked State Farm Insurance’s parts bidding initiative as the most important issue facing collision repairers today. The NABA said 28 percent of survey respondents specifically identified State Farm by name, while 14 percent of respondents said parts bidding initiatives in general were their primary industry concern.
Steering ranked as the number two concern for NABA member shops. Twenty-five percent of survey respondents reported steering as their primary concern.
The NABA said insurer reimbursements is the third largest issue shared by its membership. Twenty percent of survey respondents said insurer reimbursements are their main industry concern.
“Repairers clearly have a number of concerns that need to be addressed,” said Norbert Zaenglein, director of the NABA. “The parts bidding initiative has been a wake-up-call for the industry. This won’t be the last insurer intrusion into the business of collision repair and only a robust association with active member involvement can address the crucial issues facing the industry.”
