PartsTrader Completes 1 Million Jobs

Aug. 12, 2014

Aug. 12, 2014—PartsTrader has processed 1 million jobs since its online marketplace launched in February 2012, the company announced Aug. 12.

"Our 80-plus U.S.-based associates have worked very hard for the last few years to get us to this point, and we're pleased that an ever growing number of repairers across the country are turning to us for their parts sourcing needs," said Dale Sailer, PartsTrader's vice president of business development, in a prepared statement.

Currently, more than 7,500 collision repair businesses and 8,500 suppliers are active on the PartsTrader system, which processes more than $1 billion in parts orders annually. The company completed a national rollout in April

The shop that opened the 1 millionth job, Bowman's Auto Service Inc. of Flatwoods, Ken., was working on a 2011 Ford F-150 when the order was placed on Aug. 7, according to a PartsTrader press release.

PartsTrader is a web-based platform that allows repair facilities to put out parts orders to a number of suppliers, and receive bids on those orders. The goal of the system, according to PartsTrader, is to “provide a platform that positions repairers at the center of the parts procurement process.”

State Farm has made the parts procurement system a requirement for its Select Service shops in a number of states, a controversial policy that has stirred great debate within the industry during the last couple of years.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story inaccurately stated that PartsTrader has processed 1 million orders. It has, in fact, processed more than 1.8 million orders on 1 million jobs.
