Aug. 29, 2016—Mazda is recalling 190,000 CX-7 SUVs in the U.S. ranging from model years 2007-2012 because of an issue that may cause a loss of steering control, according to a report from Reuters.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that water could enter the front suspension ball joint fittings of affected vehicles. If that water has been contaminated with salt, such as road salt applied to roads in colder climates, the ball joint could corrode and separate from the lower control arm and cause a loss of steering control.
Mazda has previously recalled 193,000 CX-9 SUVs for a similar issue.
No injuries have been reported relating to the issue. Mazda said it will work to fix the CX-7s in colder climates first.
