Implement a structured blueprinting process

April 1, 2025
Improve blueprinting efficiency with these 7 steps.

To maximize the benefits of blueprinting, shops must implement a structured approach. Follow these 7 steps to improve blueprinting efficiency:

  1. Set up a dedicated blueprinting area. A dedicated space in the shop for blueprinting, separate from general repair work, helps minimize distractions and allows for a thorough damage assessment.
  2. Perform multi-point inspections. Inspections include structural analysis, diagnostic scanning, and disassembly to identify hidden damage.
  3. Photo documentation of all damaged areas. Capturing detailed photos ensures proper documentation for insurance claims.
  4. Follow OEM repair procedures. Research and include manufacturer repair procedures in the blueprint to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  5. Pre-Order repair parts. Once the blueprint is complete, order all necessary parts in advance to minimize delays.
  6. Collaborate with insurance adjusters. Present the blueprint to insurance adjusters with clear documentation, reducing the likelihood of disputes and ensuring faster claim approvals.
  7. Communicate with the customer. Clearly explain the repair process and estimated timeline to customers to manage expectations and build trust.
