June 13, 2011—CARSTAR Auto Body Repair Experts set a new Guinness World Record Saturday for the largest car wash in history through its Soaps It Up! Car Wash event.
More than 140 CARSTAR stores throughout the United States and Canada washed 4,918 cars in eight hours. CARSTAR’s car wash broke its own Guinness World Record set in 2009.
CARSTAR donated 100 percent of the ticket sales to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and Cystic Fibrosis in Canada. More than $67,000 was raised through the event.
“Congratulations to CARSTAR for establishing a new Guinness World Record and continuing its wonderful support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” said David Williams, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America president and CEO. “The community spirit of more than 140 CARSTAR stores uniting to help fulfill children’s wishes makes this effort all the more special.”
CARSTAR stores in Canada have been conducting the “Soaps It Up!” Car Wash for the past eight years. This is the third time the program has been done in the United States. The 2009 event was the first attempt by any organization to set the largest car wash record across multiple locations.
“Over the first three years, the Soaps It Up! Car Wash has been able to unite the CARSTAR family across North America to help children in need,” said David Byers, CEO of CARSTAR. “We are thrilled to bring even more support for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and Cystic Fibrosis in Canada through this great event.”
