3M is partnering with SkillsUSA at its national competition in which students will be competing in trade skills competitions

June 19, 2018—3M is partnering with SkillsUSA at its national competition in which students will be competing in trade skills competitions.

The competition will take place Monday, June 25-29 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. Dan Wittek, technical manager for 3M Automotive Collision Repair and past SkillsUSA competitor and judge will be a segment leader.

Honing trade skills, such as auto repair, welding or carpentry prepares students for the future jobs in manufacturing and other industry trades. Filling gaps in the skills labor workforce is essential. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, roughly 20 percent average job growth rate will be in skilled trade careers.

A ManpowerGroup survey found 33 percent of hiring managers are having difficulty filling skilled positions.
