The National Auto Body Council held a Recycled Rides event with the help of GEICO and Caliber Collision to gift a vehicle to a Dallas-area family that recently lost a husband, father, and local police officer, according to a press release.
Dallas police officer Jacob Arellano died when he was struck by an impaired driver on his way to work. At 25 years old, he was a three-year veteran of the police department and “was assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division.”
Following the tragedy, the vehicle was totaled, and Jacob’s remaining family–“fiancée Alyssa Rosales and her one-year-old son”–were faced with having no mode of transportation. Alyssa was nominated to be the recipient of a Recycled Ride by the Brotherhood For The Fallen, a nonprofit offering “emotional and financial support to families of fallen officers.”
Alyssa was gifted a 2017 Nissan Rogue on April 5 at the Caliber Headquarters in Lewisville, Texas. The vehicle was restored by the team at Caliber Collision’s Castle Hills location. Jacob’s twin brother, DPD officer Joshua Arellano, was alongside Alyssa at the event to offer support.
