Consumer Reports now recommends the Tesla Model 3, after testers had found a recent over-the-air update improved the car's braking distance by almost 20 feet.
May 31, 2018—Consumer Reports now recommends the Tesla Model 3, according to Consumer Reports.
An over-the-air update improved the car's braking distance by almost 20 feet. The software update came a week after Consumer Reports published test results that showed stopping distances for the Model 3 were significantly longer than any other modern car.
The director of auto testing at Consumer Reports, Jake Fisher, said he had not seen a remote improvement before.
While the improved braking distances raised the Model 3's overall score to be recommended by Consumer Reports, the testers had other concerns, according to Consumer Reports. The testers found issues with the car's wind noise, stiff ride and uncomfortable rear seat.
