Tesla to Downgrade Model 3 Standard Range Software

Some Tesla owners who bought the standard Range version of the Model 3 for $35,000 have been getting away with the features of Tesla’s more expensive Standard Range Plus Model 3, but the automaker says it will downgrade the software of those vehicles soon.
June 11, 2019—Some Tesla owners who bought the standard Range version of the Model 3 for $35,000 have been getting away with the features of Tesla’s more expensive Standard Range Plus Model 3, but the automaker now says that it will start downgrading the software of those vehicles within the next 10 days, according to a report by Electrek.
The automaker sent the following email to owners:
“Your Model 3 will soon receive new software that matches the Model 3 Standard Range configuration you ordered. As we communicated in April, this includes a limited range of 220 miles, and the removal of several software features.
"To continue experiencing the extended range, faster acceleration and Autopilot features of Model Standard Range Plus, schedule a service appointment through your Tesla app.”
