Continental, Nvidia Form Self-driving Development Deal

Feb. 8, 2018—German auto supplier Continental AG and Nvidia Corp announced this week that they have teamed up to develop a self-driving system based on the U.S. chipmaker’s artificial intelligence platform.

The announcement represents just one of many recent collaborations for Nvidia, whose Drive platform helps enable autonomous driving, noted the Reuters news service. The Silicon Valley-based company, which has earned acclaim for its graphics chips, announced in January that 320 companies use Nvidia Drive, largely in the hopes of developing self-driving vehicles.

Nvidia and Continental said in a statement that their self-driving system, which will integrate a range of Continental sensors, will be introduced in 2021.

The companies did not disclose financial terms of their pact.
