Auto Data, Inc., a leader in convenient auto care software development, announced a partnership with CIMS Tire Registration, that will enable Auto Data tire dealers to electronically comply with The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) tire registration regulations.
Current federal law requires tire dealers to provide every customer with the ability to register their tires; by either providing a mailable tire registration form to the tire purchaser (via traditional post card form) or by completing the tire registration process electronically on behalf of the purchaser. In December 2015, the U.S. Congress gave the Department of Transportation (DOT) the authority to order NHTSA to only allow electronic tire registration.
To prepare for the changing regulations, Auto Data now offers its tire dealers an interface to CIMS enabling them to collect and enter DOT numbers, and appropriate tire registration information, at the point-of-sale. That data is then transmitted from the Auto Data software system directly to CIMS.
Angela Trayer, CIMS I.T. Manager says, “We appreciate the opportunity to work with Auto Data to provide their tire dealer clients the most efficient and cost effective method to register tires. By utilizing the interface between Auto Data’s software and CIMS' Tire Registration Clearinghouse, tire dealers can fully comply with NHTSA regulations by registering every tire at the point-of-sale for the absolute minimum cost. Registering tires at the point-of-sale allows tire dealers to register 100 percent of tires sold, which is a "win-win" situation for tire dealers and tire purchasers."
Craig Harris, president of Auto Data, Inc. says, “Auto Data is excited to team up with CIMS to offer our customers a simple and effective tool to automatically register their DOT tire registration data. This hassle free approach is just what many of our customers have been looking for as they begin to offer more tire related services."
