Jeff Segal and Emil Assentato came from the ninth position to post their second win in a row; the debut compound produced greater speed and longevity for the entire 16-car field, according to the tire maker.

“We’re really happy about it,” Segal concurs. “It’s (the tire) clearly been faster and the times this (past) weekend were tremendously faster compared to last year and the longevity is good. So it’s really a good step in the right direction.”

Ricky Taylor and Max Angelelli claimed their second victory in two weeks in the Daytona Prototype class.

It was a clean sweep for both pole-winning teams in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series. Bret Spaude and Andrew Aquilante rebounded from two pit-road penalties to score their first Grand Sport class victory.

“The Continental tires definitely performed without any problems for us this weekend,” says Spaude. “I think at one point we were thinking about just gassing and going. I think Andrew felt confident enough we could do it with no tires and then the caution came and we were able to get four tires.”

Corey Fergus and Ownen Trinkler clinched Street Tuner class top honors as Robbie Davis led every lap from the pole in the Total Performance Showcase for his first win in the series.

Next comes the June 1-2 Grand-Am 200 at Belle Isle Park in Detroit. The Speed Channel will carry the race live on June 2 beginning at 5 p.m. ET. MRN will broadcast the race live on radio and stream it at www.motorracingnetwork.com.
