Nearly 150 car-fanatics wrapped around the BASF booth first thing this morning, waiting for an autograph from Chip Foose, a “rockstar” in auto design and a pioneer in the automotive refinishing industry. It was more than just a social visit. Foose was on hand to help announce the launch of the new BASF R-M Foose Signature Line of 12 automotive refinish colors.
“I worked for Boyd Cottington for eight years. When I left in ’98, we were working on the Grand Master car,” Foose recalled. “When we got to the paint, I asked detailers what works for them. Every one of them said R-M BASF. And now, thanks to my partnership with BASF, I’m thrilled to introduce to you my very own signature automotive refinish colors.”
The first color in was inspired when car fanatic Daren Metropoulos of New York met with Foose and showed him a Breitling watch – with a bronze anodized face - and said “THIS is the color I want.” The SEMA-show-stopping TerraCuda was soon born, draped bumper-to-bumper appropriately in Terracuda Pearl paint.
Early next year, and for a limted time, the Foose Signature Line of colors will be available in waterborne formulations, under the brand name Glasurit 90-line. Auto customizers will soon be slathering on extremely vivid colors such as Butterscotch Pearl, Impression Pewter Mint, Hemisfear Lime Pearl Pacific and GrandMaster Jade Metallic.
