Baldwin goes 'ballistic' with high-caliber desert victory on General tires
Shooting off the starting line on General’s Grabber competition tires, “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin won this past weekend’s Parker 425 race in Arizona to claim the 2010 season’s first Best in the Desert series podium finish.
“Taking home the win right out of the blocks has set a precedent for our entire team,” says Travis Roffler, General’s marketing director. “BJ is such a strong driver, and we expect awesome things from him this year.”
The Grabbers were up to the task as Baldwin had to battle mud and rain to clinch the checkered flag, he reports.
“The tires performed awesome, my crew was on it, and I wanted this win bad,” says Baldwin.
“This is a very important win for me,” he explains. “I felt really good going into the race after driving for several days at Dakar. This is going to be a great season for Baldwin Motorsports.”
General’s competition tires come in size 37x12.50R17 for class 8 and trophy truck/trick truck, and in 35x12.50R17 fitments for classes 1, 6, 7, 7S; stock mini and Protruck. They have a three-ply Duragen reinforced body construction for the rigors of off-road conditions, plus a newly-developed competition-specific tread compound, according to Roffler.
