April 13, 2011 — Auto enthusiast website Edmunds’ InsideLine.com recently unveiled its lists of the year’s best and worst looking new cars.
The website’s staff looked at a broad range of vehicles, from high-end sports cars to mainstream sedans.
“The cars that earned a spot on the best-looking list all have that indescribable quality that seizes our attention the moment we first look at them and doesn’t let go,” said Scott Oldham, editor-in-chief of InsideLine.com. “The ‘ugliest’ cars also have a similar way of grabbing our attention – but for all the wrong reasons.”
The staff’s top three picks in the good-looking category were the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Kia Optima and the Audi R8 Spyder. They called the Ferrari an easy winner that represents “a return to perfect proportions for the entry level mid-engine Ferrari.”
On the ugly list, the Chevrolet Volt, Honda Insight and Toyota Prius tied for top honors.
“For some reason Chevrolet, Honda and Toyota, all of which have produced beautiful and distinct cars of their own, have all decided that a high-tech hybrid should be shaped like a five-door polliwog and wear tiny, little wheels inside big wheel arches,” the review said.
Another Ferarri, the California, was second on the ugly list, followed by the Dodge Caliber.
